EFT / Tapping
¿Qué es EFT / Tapping?
A mind-body technique that combines focused attention on a specific concern with sequential tapping on acupressure points on the face and upper body, used widely for stress relief and emotional processing.
Historia y contexto cultural
EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) was developed in the 1990s by Gary Craig, a Stanford-trained engineer, building on earlier work by psychologist Roger Callahan, who developed Thought Field Therapy (TFT) in the 1980s. Craig simplified Callahan's point sequences into a single basic protocol and made the technique freely available, contributing to its rapid spread through self-help communities. EFT has since attracted a growing body of clinical research, particularly in the areas of anxiety, PTSD, and phobias; it is used by therapists, coaches, and individuals worldwide and is not tied to a single tradition or governing body.
Cómo funciona
A practitioner or individual begins by identifying a specific concern — a memory, a fear, a physical sensation — and rating its intensity on a 0-10 scale. A "setup statement" is spoken aloud while tapping on the karate-chop point of the hand (e.g. "Even though I feel anxious about this, I deeply and completely accept myself"). The person then taps through a sequence of points — eyebrow, side of eye, under eye, upper lip, chin, collarbone, under arm, top of head — while stating a reminder phrase. The intensity rating is reassessed and the process repeated until the distress reduces. EFT on Healogy.ai is offered as a self-care and stress-management tool; it is not a substitute for psychotherapy or medical treatment.
