Human Design was introduced in 1987 by Ra Uru Hu (born Alan Robert Krakower in Canada), who described receiving the system during an extended visionary experience on the island of Ibiza. The system assigns each person one of five Types (Manifestor, Generator, Manifesting Generator, Projector, Reflector) based on the positions of the planets at birth, cross-referenced with I Ching hexagrams and a body-graph of nine energy centers. Human Design has grown rapidly since the early 2000s through social media and online courses, and today has an active global practitioner and enthusiast community.
A practitioner generates a body-graph using the client's birth date, time, and location — this plots the active channels and gates across nine defined centers, revealing the client's Type, Strategy, and Authority (their body's own decision-making signal). The reading explores how the client is designed to initiate, respond, wait, or guide — and how following their Strategy and Authority may reduce resistance and increase alignment in daily life.
